Papers of the Peronneau and Porcher families, 1786-1857.

Correspondence between Mrs. Arthur Peronneau, Charleston, S.C., and her children and other relatives; and account books, 1794-1818 and 1797-1816, concerning the estate of Arthur Peronneau (d. 1774) and family activities. Correspondents include daughters Ann Cooper and Elizabeth Hayne and relative Susannah Hayne Simmons; account books contain receipts for estate of Arthur Peronneau and provide information on his widow, Mary Peronneau, and children Henry Peronneau, Mary Finley, William Peronneau, Elizabeth Hayne, and Ann Ford, whose second husband, Jacob Ford, administered the estate. Journal, 28 July 1855 - 20 May 1857, of Midshipman Philip Porcher (1835-1864) aboard the USS Constellation, with observations on military life at sea while the ship cruised throughout the Mediterranean Sea.
